ESSEX COUNTY FREEHOLDERS
HONOR ANA PEREZ
ON HER RETIREMENT FROM
THE COMMISSIONER OF REGISTRATION ANDSUPERINTENDENT OF ELECTIONS

(Newark, NJ) – The Essex County Board of Chosen Freeholders honored Ana Perez of Newark on her recent retirement as Clerk-Typist to the Essex County Commissioner of Registration and Superintendent of Elections during its Wednesday, October 15th meeting, held at the Hall of Records, when Freeholder Vice President Patricia Sebold of Livingston presented her with the Board’s Commendation sponsored by Freeholder Carol Y. Clark for her 25 years of outstanding service.

Ana Perez was born in Lares, Puerto Rico, one of eleven children to her parents, Saturnino and Altagracia Perez. After moving to Brooklyn, New York at the age of five, she was raised there and graduated from Eli Whitney Vocational High School also in Brooklyn.  Once she relocated to New Jersey, she expanded her skills by taking courses in Computer Training at Essex County College in Newark, New Jersey.

Ms. Perez began her career with the Essex County Commissioner of Registration and Superintendent of Elections as a Clerk Typist in 1989. She has consistently contributed to the professionalism, productivity and advancement of the day-to-day departmental responsibilities until her retirement effective November 1, 2014.

Ms. Perez enjoys traveling, dancing, puzzle books and assisting the public.  She is recognized as an excellent cook by her friends, family and co-workers.  During her retirement, she is looking forward to moving to her newly purchased home in San Sebastián, Puerto Rico where she will relocate with the love of her life Manuel Diaz Rodriguez, to enjoy the rest of their days while reaching for new and exciting goals.

She is the proud mother of two children; Marilyn Borrero and Kenneth Ramos, as well as the loving grandmother of two beautiful granddaughters; Tiffany Ann Borrero and Fabiola Ramos and one precious great-granddaughter; Paris Nicole Cancel who are all defined  as the “joy in her life.”

In her acceptance comments, a shy, but grateful Ms. Perez, thanked Freeholder Vice President Sebold and the entire Board for the honor and stated, “I had a great time during my 25 years and I’m going to miss everybody. I learned a lot, I love to assist the public, and I will enjoy my next life in Puerto Rico with relatives that I haven’t been with in such a long time. I’d like to thank everyone.”
